Other Music Digital is thrilled to be welcoming onto our site one of the very best reissue labels around, perhaps THE definitive reissue label, the incomparable Sundazed Music! Bob Irwin and Sundazed have been churning out meticulously researched, sonically stunning and visually gorgeous reissues of the very best psychedelia, pop, country, garage, surf, folk, jazz and more for close to 20 years, and they're still gaining steam. The label is in many ways a product of the CD boom of the mid-'80s, when major labels were either completely missing out on the value of the lesser-known but undeniably classic music in their catalogues, or perhaps worse yet, trying to cash in with ill-conceived, horribly produced compilations and album reissues. Sundazed came to the rescue, with a knowledge and passion for music that guides their every move, informing their selections and their productions, always with the best titles, the best re-mastering, the best bonus cuts and so much more. And while a product of the CD era, Sundazed have always been committed to beloved vinyl, with amazing top-quality pressings, and now digital downloading, which (we hope) may guide us to a future where everything ever recorded is available at the touch of a button.
So we welcome Sundazed Music! We are starting small, with a dozen of the label's excellent pop, psych, soul and country titles, including Graham Parsons' pre-Byrds country-rock innovators the International Submarine Band, a pair of collections of wonderful demos and unreleased gems from Love guitarist Bryan MacLean, Mel Hardin and Tim McPherson's triumphant '60s southern soul, and a stellar collection of Don Rich's country pickin', from Buck Owens' head Buckaroo. And perhaps we are most excited about a WORLDWIDE DIGITAL EXCLUSIVE with the Cyrkle's excellent soundtrack to the softcore cinematic classic The Minx -- recorded in 1967, soon after the band was signed by Beatles manager Brian Epstein and had a #2 chart hit with the Paul Simon-penned "Red Rubber Ball." The Minx was barely available even on vinyl back in the day, and we are (almost) ashamed to say how much an original LP copy has fetched off our wall, but there is only pride in announcing that we have this exclusive download! It's paisley-pop at its finest, with the group's patented three-part harmonies (as on the great title track), more than a few classic breaks (check the percussion intro to "Nicole"), and of course a slew of previously unavailable bonus cuts.
Enjoy the Cyrkle, enjoy Sundazed, and start digging. We plan on introducing a slew of new titles from the label every two weeks, so get busy if you want to stay on top of all the great music coming your way.
